TikTok — Auto-Captions
TikTok automatically generates captions for most videos in English and several other languages. To check before extracting:
- Open the video in the TikTok app.
- Look for the CC button at the bottom-right of the video player.
- If the CC button is visible, auto-captions are available and extraction will work.
Note: CC may not appear on older videos or videos where the creator disabled captions.

YouTube — Subtitles & Auto-Generated
YouTube videos can have manual subtitles (added by the creator) or auto-generated captions. To check:
- Open the video on YouTube.
- Click the CC button in the player controls (bottom-right).
- If CC is greyed out, no subtitles are available for that video.
Tip: Auto-generated captions are available on most English-language videos. Manual subtitles tend to be more accurate.
